Volleyball Finishes Season With .500 Record
The Victor Valley College Volleyball team's season came to an end Friday November 8th, with a 3-1 loss to Cerro Coso. The Lady Rams had a strong start to the 2024 season, but faced tough competition in their conference schedule, resulting in a 10-10 record overall. The Lady Rams hope to build on this season as they look forward to the future of Rams Volleyball.
"I had a pleasure coaching this team this year. The effort and committment this team put in made this an enjoyable team to coach", said coach Peter Ong.
One of the standout performers this year was freshmen Alayja Hall. Hall had a total of 178 kills on the year which was 7th in the conference. Sophomore Shamicah Rensulat was also consistent all year. Rensulat averaged 4.39 digs per set, which was 1st in the conference. Another sophomore, Krystal Shurtliff was key in setting up players all season. Shurtliff averaged 6.47 assists per set, which was 3rd in the conference.
Although the team faced some tough losses, they showed resilience and determination throughout the season. Coach Ong felt his team has a lot to be proud of in his first season as the head coach.
Looking ahead to future seasons, the Victor Valley College Volleyball team shows promise and potential for continued success. With a strong foundation and a group of talented players, the Rams are poised to make a mark in their conference and beyond.
