Student-Athlete Academic Counseling Overview
The Student-Athlete Support Program at Victor Valley College (VVC) is dedicated to helping student-athletes balance their academic and athletic commitments. Services include personal, career, and academic counseling, assistance with NAIA and NCAA transfers, and guidance on 3C2A eligibility.
Key Components:

Educational Planning: All student-athletes must develop or review an educational plan with an athletics counselor.

ATHL-099 (Student Athlete Orientation): A noncredit course designed to introduce students to VVC’s graduation requirements, transfer eligibility (3C2A, NCAA, NAIA), and the student-athlete experience.

Attendance: Student-athletes must attend all academic classes and avoid scheduling conflicts with practices and games.

Classroom Behavior: Positive behavior is essential as student-athletes represent their team, athletics department, and college.

Academic Monitoring: Faculty track progress, and at-risk student-athletes are contacted by the athletics counselor. Coaches are informed of academic performance.

Course Dropping: Student-athletes must consult the athletics counselor and head coach before dropping any course.

Transfer Process: Guidance is provided for transferring between CCCAA colleges, back to a 4-year school, or transferring to a 4-year school to compete.

Priority Registration: Student-athletes can register for classes on a priority basis, as identified by their coach.

Athletic Course Enrollment: Participation in intercollegiate sports requires registration in the respective athletics course.

Academic Accountability: Time management and academic responsibility are key for student-athletes to maintain a balance between sports and studies.

Athletic Study Hall: Provides a dedicated space and resources for academic success.

Academic Counseling: Student-athletes have access to specialized athletic counselors and general education counselors for academic support. Appointments can be made via QR code.
