Volleyball Wins Their First Game of the Season

VICTORVILLE - VVC Volleyball notched their first win of the season this past Friday against Antelope Valley. Our Lady Rams won the first two sets in convincing fashion, (25-12, 25-14). AVC won the third set 14-25, before our Lady Rams closed out the game with a 25-18 set win.

"I could not be more proud of these young ladies", said Coach Kelli Papeirnik. "Our coaching staff has worked really hard to recruit High Desert student athletes, and it is clear that hard work is starting to pay off." Each of our 14 Lady Rams on the roster are from High Desert high schools.

Victor Valley Volleyball has had a tough few years after not competing during the 2020 Covid year, canceling the 2021 season due to a lack of players, and struggling in 2022 after hiring coach Papeirnik just before the season.

Coach Papeirnik was pleased with the standout play of some of the Lady Rams. "We played well as a team. I was especially pleased with the defensive play of Charlie Colbert. Also, Kayleigh Dupree did a great job providing some offense for us".

The Lady Rams play their first home game this Friday September 1st at 6:00pm also against Antelope Valley College.
