Bio

Walid Jomaa has coached and refereed in the high desert for the last 20+ years. Starting in the recreational leagues like most coaches and then progressed to club teams even at the gold level. Was a trainer at the HD Storm for a number of years. He also coached at Sultana HS and 5 years at Victor Valley HS (won 3 league championships and 2 CIF semi-finals appearances). He was assistant coach to the women's team at VVC for 7 years. He refereed at the club level. Also played on various local adult leagues. He coached youth teams that played in England, New Zealand and Australia.

For 3 years Walid was an ODP recruiter and district 5 ODP coach.

Due to his love of the game and wanting to improve as a coach he started attending coaching clinics and has acquired the USSF "B" level coaching license, and also the Advanced National Diploma from the NSCA. He also was a coaching instructor for district 5 for numerous years.

On the administration level, he started the Victorville Youth Soccer League and was president for 4 years. He served on the Victorville recreational advisory committee.

On a professional level Walid is an electrical engineer, graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1981 and worked for the Department of Water and Power for 30 years and he retired in September 2011.

As far as philosophy towards coaching he loves teaching the technical and tactical aspects of the game on a competitive level. Also promote safe playing environment, camaraderie, sportsmanship, respect to fellow athletes, coaches and officials. Mainly encourage the players to stay in school and achieve an education alongside playing collegiate athletics.
