Brandon Bollinger Wins State Championship

Victor Valley College showcased its wrestling prowess at the State Championship Wrestling meet held at Cuesta College on December 8th and 9th. The college's team was represented by two exceptional athletes, Brandon Bollinger and Evan Roy, who put on an impressive performance and brought home well-deserved recognition.

Brandon Bollinger, competing in the 149-weight class, emerged as the 3C2A State Champion for 2023. Bollinger's journey to the Championship match was not an easy one, as he faced tough opponents throughout the tournament. However, he showcased his talent and resilience by defeating the #1 ranked Wrestler in a thrilling final match.

In the Championship match, Bollinger displayed his technical prowess and strategic mindset to overcome his formidable opponent. The former Sultana Sultan's swift footwork and precise grappling techniques, he outscored his opponent by a significant margin, ending the match with a remarkable score of 10-3. This victory not only highlighted Bollinger's sheer talent but also his ability to perform under pressure on the grandest stage.

Evan Roy, the college's second representative, and former Hesperia Scorpion, competed in the 141-weight class and secured an impressive second-place finish. Roy's journey to the finals was equally challenging, as he faced stiff competition throughout the tournament.

In the final match, Roy gave his opponent a tough fight, displaying his agility and quick reflexes. Although he fell short of clinching the State Championship title, Roy's performance was commendable. His determination and competitive spirit were evident as he fought tooth and nail to secure the second-place position in his weight class.

The achievements of both Brandon Bollinger and Evan Roy at the State Championship meet have not only brought glory to Victor Valley College but have also cemented their status as All-Americans.
