**Victor Valley College Rams Dominate in Doubleheader Sweep Against San Bernardino Valley to Kick Off Conference Play**
March 7, 2025 - The Victor Valley College Rams softball team launched their Inland Empire Athletic Conference campaign in spectacular fashion with a commanding doubleheader sweep over San Bernardino Valley College. The Rams displayed an impressive blend of offensive might and defensive resilience, securing victories with scores of 10-2 and 16-8.
**Game 1 Recap: Victor Valley 10, San Bernardino Valley 2**
The Rams set the tone early in the first game of IEAC play, with an explosive start that saw them score two runs in the opening inning. Catcher R. Godwin was a standout performer, scoring three runs and contributing three hits. M. Cuellar was instrumental in the Rams' offense, driving in four runs and hitting two triples. The Rams' offense was relentless, adding four runs in the fourth inning and another two in the fifth to seal the victory.
On the mound, M. Ortiz delivered a stellar performance, pitching a complete game. Ortiz allowed only four hits and two unearned runs while striking out five batters. The Rams' defense, despite a couple of errors, was largely effective in keeping the San Bernardino offense at bay.
**Game 2 Recap: Victor Valley 16, San Bernardino Valley 8**
The second game of the doubleheader was a showcase of the Rams' offensive prowess. After falling behind 5-0 in the top of the second inning, Victor Valley responded with a remarkable 15-run explosion in the bottom of the inning. M. Cuellar was once again the catalyst, hitting another two triples and driving in six runs. The Rams capitalized on San Bernardino's defensive lapses, with eight batters earning walks and capitalizing on errors.
Pitcher A. Zaldivar displayed resilience on the mound, overcoming a rough start to complete the game. Zaldivar allowed 11 hits and six earned runs while striking out two. Despite the early deficit, the Rams' defensive adjustments and offensive firepower proved too much for San Bernardino to handle.
