Welcome Back Coach Barda

Coach Kevin Barda is making a return to Victor Valley College as the Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach. With an impressive coaching career spanning over two decades, Coach Barda is no stranger to success on the cross country course.

Coach Barda previously coached the Rams from 1998 to 2013, during which he led the women's team to three Foothill Conference titles. His exceptional coaching abilities earned him the prestigious honor of being named the Foothill Conference Coach of the Year twice. Under his guidance, the athletes at VVC achieved remarkable results and developed into strong competitors in the cross country circuit.

After leaving VVC, Coach Barda served as the women's assistant XC/T&F coach at CSU San Bernardino from 2014 to 2018. During his time there, he continued to showcase his coaching prowess by mentoring a regional cross country individual champion and multiple-time All-American, both in cross country and track and field events. Coach Barda's ability to nurture talent and help athletes reach their full potential was evident in the success of his athletes at CSU San Bernardino.

One of Coach Barda's notable achievements is coaching Anthony Solis to a remarkable 9th place overall finish, and 5th among American runners, at the 2023 Los Angeles Marathon. Solis's outstanding performance stands as a testament to Coach Barda's ability to train athletes to excel in long-distance running events.

Apart from his coaching career, Coach Barda is also a proud father to his 11-year-old daughter, Raylen. His dedication to both his family and his athletes is evident in his commitment to their growth and success.

Coach Barda's return to VVC is met with great anticipation and excitement from the High Desert community. His previous accomplishments and track record of success make him a valuable asset to the cross country program. With his expertise and passion for the sport, Coach Barda is expected to continue fostering a culture of excellence and helping grow the VVC Cross Country program back to competitive place it once was.
