Rams Fight But Fall to the Coyotes

Victorville, CA

The Ram Men's Basketball team loses to the Cerro Coso Coyotes with a final score of 78-67 on January 3, 2024.

The Rams played tough trhoughout the game aginst the 16th in the State ranked Coyotes. Cerro Coso had a strong start in the first half, scoring 41 points compared to the Rams 30 points. The Rams matchup the Coyote's in the 2nd half as both teams scored 37. The game ended with Cerro Coso College securing a comfortable 11-point lead.

For the Rams, Jordan Malveaux was the leading scorer for Victor Valley College, contributing 24 points. Sheldon Grant also had a solid performance, scoring 12 points for the team.

The difference in the game was th shooting percentages as Cerro Coso 50% from the field and our Rams shot 40%. Cerro Coso also had a 40% three-point shooting percentage and a 46.2% free throw shooting percentage. In contrast, the Rams struggled with their shooting, with a field goal percentage of 44.8% and a three-point shooting percentage of 23.5%.

Rebounding also played a significant role in Cerro Coso's victory, as they outrebounded the Rams with 37 total rebounds compared to 30 rebounds for VVC. 


Overall, there were positives for the Rams that they hope to take into their next game on the road at Barstow this Saturday January 6th, at 3:00pm.

THe Rams currently sit at 5-10 and 0-2 in conference.
