Rams Edge Out Antelope Valley in Thrilling Conference Clash
October 10, 2025
In a battle of American Metro Conference titans, the Victor Valley College Rams delivered a statement win on the road, toppling previously undefeated Antelope Valley College 39–37 in a game that lived up to every bit of its hype.
From the opening whistle, the Rams came out swinging. Quarterback Seth Burbine orchestrated a lightning-fast opening drive, connecting with Teshawn Cleveland for a 9-yard touchdown just 11 seconds into the game. Burbine was electric all night, throwing for 296 yards and five touchdowns on 28-of-53 passing.
Victor Valley built a commanding 29–7 lead midway through the second quarter, thanks to Burbine's precision and a relentless offensive attack. Don Henry was a standout, hauling in two touchdowns and racking up 95 receiving yards on seven catches. Ricky Sampson added another score, while Darren Gandy and Cleveland each contributed touchdown receptions to round out the Rams' aerial dominance.
The Rams' defense also made key contributions. Quamaine Thomas, Gabriel Garcia Jr., and Adan Torres each tallied six total tackles, with Thomas and Ethan Lizama recording sacks. Adan Torres and Elliott Norrignton each snagged interceptions, helping to stall Antelope Valley's comeback efforts.
Despite the Rams' early dominance, Antelope Valley refused to go quietly. The Marauders mounted a furious second-half rally, cutting the lead to just two points late in the fourth quarter. But Victor Valley's final touchdown—a 4-yard strike from Burbine to Gandy—proved to be the difference.
Carlos Amplayo and Jayon Gillett anchored the ground game, combining for 163 rushing yards, while kicker Angel Montero Sanchez added seven points with a field goal and four extra points.
With the win, Victor Valley improves to 5–1 overall and 1–0 in conference play, handing Antelope Valley their first loss of the season. The Rams showcased grit, talent, and resilience in a game that saw momentum swing wildly and both teams trade blows until the final whistle.
This victory not only solidifies Victor Valley's position as a top contender in the American Metro Conference—it sends a clear message: the Rams are here to win, and they're not backing down.
