Rams Baseball Eager To See Hard Work On Display
**Previewing the 2025 Victor Valley College Baseball Season: A New Dawn for the Rams**
As the 2025 baseball season approaches, the Victor Valley College (VVC) Rams are ready to showcase their talent and determination under the guidance of second-year head coach Nate Lambdin. After a challenging 2024 season of playing all 40 games on the road, the Rams are eager to hit the field at their new facility, bringing a fresh wave of enthusiasm and ambition.
**Key Returners to Watch**
Leading the charge for the Rams are 11 seasoned returners, poised to make a significant impact on the field. Aiden Caporale, affectionately known as "Cap," is back at third base after earning the Inland Empire Conference "Gold Glove" last season. Caporale is an Oak Hills High School alumnus and is expected to anchor the defense with his exceptional skills.
Joining him is Eric Logsdon, the energetic lead-off hitter and shortstop from Riverside Prep. Logsdon enters his second consecutive year as a starter, offering both speed and precision at the top of the lineup. Outfielder Johnny Lloyd, a product of Apple Valley High School, brings consistent performance and athleticism to the outfield.
The Rams' pitching staff is bolstered by the return of five key arms: Giovanni Guerrero (Diamond Ranch High School), Jesse Mauricio (Apple Valley High School), Ian Razo (Temescal Canyon High School), Luke Riggs (Notre Dame High School), and Riley Tulacro (Serrano High School). These pitchers are expected to provide depth and stability on the mound as the team navigates the season.
**Promising New Recruits**
The Rams have also strengthened their roster with an impressive class of recruits. Isaac Jimenez, a versatile catcher and third-baseman from Don Lugo High School, arrives with accolades as the "Mt. Baldy League Offensive & Defensive PLAYER OF THE YEAR." Paul Montoya, an All-CIF first-team selection from Oak Hills, adds further firepower to the lineup.
The Rams have successfully attracted nearly every top prospect from the High Desert area, including Adelanto graduates Cam Donaldson (OF), Daniel Fernandez (C), and Zach Viramontes (P). Oak Hills products David Nunez and Angelo Rizzo join the pitching corps as highly touted newcomers.
Expanding their recruitment reach, VVC has welcomed second-baseman Owen Fuoco from Vancouver, British Columbia, among other talents such as Carter Wood, a transfer from Riverside City College, Aiden Yancey from Queens Creek, Arizona, Benny Aquino from Diamond Ranch HS in Pomona, and Dallas Yardley from Beaver, Utah.
**Excitement and Goals for the 2025 Season**
Coach Lambdin expresses excitement about the team's balance of 15 sophomores and 20 freshmen, emphasizing the leadership and culture cultivated by the returning players. "Our returners have provided such great leaders to our new guys," Lambdin states. "We have a great sense of culture and cohesiveness. These guys work incredibly hard and push themselves every day. I am so excited to see them grow as players and people."
The Rams have set ambitious goals for the upcoming season, aiming for a .550 winning percentage and a playoff berth. They are committed to improving individual player skills, fostering a positive team culture, enhancing team GPA, and increasing community involvement through volunteer opportunities.
Coach Lambdin concludes with confidence, "We have been working hard through the non-tradition season, focusing on skill development, team cohesion, and physical conditioning. Our returning players have shown tremendous growth and leadership, and we have brought in some talented newcomers who will add depth to our roster. It is going to be an exciting year!"
The Rams will kick off their season with an away game at Citrus College on Friday, January 24th, at 1:00 PM. With a blend of veteran presence and fresh talent, the 2025 VVC Rams are ready to make their mark as they embark on a promising new season.
