Victor Valley Baseball Team Edges Out Rio Hondo in Close Game

In a thrilling match-up between Victor Valley and Rio Hondo baseball teams, Victor Valley came out on top with a narrow 8-7 victory. The game took place on January 30, 2024, at Rio Hondo College Stadium, and it kept spectators on the edge of their seats until the very end.

Victor Valley struck first in the opening inning, with D. Rivera scoring on a groundout by D. Dominguez. However, Rio Hondo quickly responded in the bottom of the inning, with R. Duron scoring on a wild pitch. The first inning ended with a tie score of 1-1.

In the third inning, Victor Valley took the lead again, thanks to a double by R. Tulacro, bringing Rivera home. Dominguez followed with a single, allowing Tulacro to score. But Rio Hondo fought back in the bottom of the third, with D. Castillo hitting a two-run homer, tying the game at 3-3. Rio Hondo then capitalized on an error by Victor Valley's pitcher, scoring two more runs and taking a 5-3 lead.

The game continued to be a back-and-forth battle, with Victor Valley's J. Lloyd hitting a homer in the sixth inning, narrowing the gap to 5-4. In the same inning, E. Logsdon hit a sacrifice fly, allowing Rivera to advance and score, tying the game once again at 5-5.

Rio Hondo regained the lead in the seventh inning, with M. Covarrubi drawing a walk and bringing K. Hoogerhei home. M. Salcedo then hit a sacrifice fly, allowing L. Mikel to score, giving Rio Hondo a 7-5 lead.

However, Victor Valley didn't give up. In the ninth inning, they rallied with C. Estrada hitting a double and bringing J. Gutierrez and C. Hill home, tying the game once again at 7-7. Then, Lloyd hit a single and advanced to second on the throw, allowing L. Fox to score the winning run, sealing the victory for Victor Valley with a final score of 8-7.

The game was a testament to the determination and skill of both teams. Victor Valley's strong hitting and strategic plays ultimately gave them the edge they needed to secure the win.
