Bio

Coach Peter Ong will be taking over the VVC Lady Ram Volleyball program in 2024.

Peter os no stranger to VVC as he has been an assistant coach for the Lady Rams for over 10 years. He brings nearly two decades of experience at multiple levels as he gets his first opportunity as a Head Coach with the Lady Rams. 

Peter has been playing volleyball for over 25 years. He found his love for the game when he began playing at 10 years old. He grew up playing sand volleyball at the beaches in Manhattan, Redondo, and Hermosa. Peter has played many variations of volleyball, from indoor to sand, grass and even wallyball. During high school, he played for the Boys Indoor Volleyball team at Redondo Union High School. Following high school he joined the United States Army, where he served our country for two years. After the military, Peter found himself being drawn back to the sport in Virginia where he was a High School Referee. In 2009, he returned to California and has been playing Open Gyms, Tournaments, and Leagues. 

In 2011, he was asked by to help the Indoor Volleyball team. Peter has been an Indoor Assistant Coach at Victor Valley College for over 10 years (2011-2019, 2022-2023). He played an important role in mentoring and developing players, especially in 2014 (15-7, 9-1), when they were Conference Champion and Ranked 17th in the State. He was also the Beach Assistant Coach at VVC for 3 years (2017-2019). 

He’s employed at VVC as an Adjunct Faculty in the Allied Health Department as a Respiratory Therapist Clinical Instructor. 

Peter is married to Linh and they have two beautiful daughters, Leilani and Penelope. He is also coaching his older daughter club team Wildflower.
