Bio

John Teuscher begins his second stint as a member of the Victor Valley College coaching staff in 2024 where he will serve as the Offensive Coordinator. Coach Teuscher was also a member of the staff at VVC in 2017 where he was the Pass Game Coordinator/Wide Receivers Coach and 2018 as the Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs Coach. He returns to VVC after working as Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Ventura College in 2023. The Pirates won the National Northern Conference championship and advanced to the S.C.F.A. championship game.

Prior to Ventura College Coach Teuscher spent the 2022 season as the Offensive Coordinator/Quarterback Coach at Antelope Valley College. Under his direction the offense at AVC improved completion percentage by 11% and improved rushing touchdowns by 31% to finish #2 overall in the S.C.F.A in that statistic. A total of six Marauders offensive players earned all-conference honors. In 2021 Teuscher was the Offensive Line Coach at Fullerton College. The Hornets led the conference in rushing and rushing touchdowns. Three Hornet offensive lineman were named all-conference. Fullerton ended the season by going to the Patriotic Bowl.

The 2019 season saw Coach Teuscher wear many hats at San Bernardino Valley College where he was the Co-Offensive Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator, and coached the Tight Ends. On offense the Wolverines were one of the one of the best units in the state. They led the C.C.C.A.A. in passing averaging 349.6 yards through the air per game and five different Wolverines had at least 25 catches. They also led the conference in scoring offense (44.3 PPG), total offense (470.4 YPG), a 1st Downs. Quarterback Jeremy Moussa led the C.C.C.A.A. in passing and touchdown passes. He was also named American Division Offensive Player of the week on three separate times. Running Back Darrell Turner Jr. led the conference in rushing. On Special Teams SBVC improved their averages over the previous season in Punt, Punt Return, and Kickoff. They also improved their Field Goal and Extra Point percentage. Kicker/Punter Ben Falck was named the American Division Special Teams player of the week once during the season. A total of eight Wolverines earned all-conference honors on offense and special teams. SBVC ended the season 9-2 winning the American Mountain Conference championship and participated in the American Bowl.

Coach Teuscher enters his 18th year in coaching, spending fourteen at the college level and 4 at the high school level. He started his coaching career at Snow College in 2006. The Badgers ended the season 11-1 winning conference and bowl championships and a #2 NJCAA final ranking. He also spent three seasons, 2007 & 2011-2012, at the University of Utah where he was a part of winning the 2007 Poinsettia Bowl and the 2011 Sun Bowl. He worked in a variety of roles for the Utes on Offense, Special Teams, Football Operations, and Recruiting. He spent the 2008-2010 seasons at Northern Arizona University where he coached Linebackers and Defensive Tackles. The Lumberjacks led the Big Sky Conference in scoring and rushing defense in 2010 and in 2008 NAU led all of FCS Football in rushing defense and sacks. He coached three players who earned All-Big Sky honors during his time in Flagstaff. He has also coached at the high school level. He was the Head Coach at Copper Hills High School (UT) in 2013-2014. During his two seasons he increased participation in the program by over fifty players and broke or tied 31 school records. Coach Teuscher also brought a strong academic focus as well with a team GPA of 3.2 (2014) and 3.1 (2013), and community service as the program was presented with the “Muscle Award” by the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He was also the Offensive Coordinator at Timpview High School (UT) in 2016 and Westlake High School (UT) 2015. Teuscher has also been a training camp guest coach in the Canadian Football League working with the Edmonton Elks in 2015 working with the Offensive Line and Special Teams, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2016 working with the Offensive Line.

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was a member of the Olympus High School class of 2000. After high school he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Sants to Michigan. After he returned home, he played Defensive Line at Snow College, the Badgers went 17-6 and won two bowl games. He earned a scholarship to Benedictine College, but a knee injury cut his playing days short. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Southern Utah University and holds two master’s degrees, one in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University and the other in Health and Human Performance from Sul Ross State University. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he teaches in the Health and Kinesiology department at VVC. He has also taught courses at Antelope Valley College, Fullerton College, and San Bernardino Valley College. Teuscher has been married since 2007 to his wife, Whitney, and they have two children. The Teuscher family has lived in the High Desert since 2017.
